Ford's limited edition 1968 Mustang California Special was built and exclusively sold in California due to Mustang's enormous popularity there. The GT/CS is the distinct rear section consisting of a fiberglass rear deck lid and quarter panel extensions with integral spoiler. The unique GT/CS marking is etched into the triping running down the side of car with a chrome "California Special" script secured to the rear quarter panels. The front grille lacks the horse and corral emblem recognizable on the '68 Mustangs and the factory installed chrome hood locks with a quarter turn design secure the hood to special latches bolted to the radiator support.
