49-0359 First Gear - 1979 International Scout Traveler Truck. 1:25 scale diecast collectible model. This Scout Traveler is a 7.5"L x 2.5"W x 2.5"H die-cast metal car. Manufactured by First Gear. 49-0359 is in WHITE. Individually packed in a window box. Box size: 9.5"L x 4.5"W x 4"H.

In July 1959 an actual size clay model was finished and by November of the same year the final design was approved. By December of 1960 the International Scout was in production and ready for a 1961 introduction to the public. This unique 1/4 ton commercial utility pickup was available as a 4x2 or 4x4 model, and would compete directly against the Willys Jeep. The improvements that were designed into the Scout versus the Willys made it an immediate success, with more than 28,000 units sold the first year. It is often considered the fore-runner of the modern off-road, 4-wheel utility vehicle.
