    39301R ERTL Elite American Muscle - 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge Hard Top. 1:18 scale diecast collectible. Elite Edition. White interior. Chrome five-spoke wheels. Also has hood tach and hidden headlights. RC2 ref. no. 39301 in Matador RED color. Individually packed in a window box. GM is a trademark of the General Motors Corporation. 
     
    The American Muscle Elite Edition is for the discriminating buyer who appreciates the finer details. Limited production runs and our optimum level of detail make these showpieces truly elite. Each die-cast is serialized and is mounted on a handsome base. Updated packaging enhances the true features and craftsmanship.

    Matador Red with white inteior, chrome five-spoke wheels. Also has hood tach and hidden headlights. Chase car seats will be painted Matador Red, with regular white seats.

    In 1956 a man named John Z. De-Lorean joined the Pontiac team; he became the chief of engineering in 1961. He decided to build himself a personal car. He used the Tempest body and dropped a 326 in it and used a Hurst shifter. This wound up becoming very popular--so Pontiac decided to make it a production car in 1964. They called it the Pontiac GTO.

    The GTO was an inexpensive car with a big block engine that put out a lot of horse power. Car enthusiasts went wild. In response, other car manufacturers had to compete and therefore began to produce musclecars. 1969 was the first year for "The Judge", a popular $332 option named after a skit on the "Laugh-In" TV program. Besides a wing, wheel, stripe and decal package, buyers also were treated to a Ram Air III 400 along with a Hurst controlled three speed manual transmission and a heavy duty suspension.
