God and the Art of Toy and Diecast

"and know that I am God"
By L. S. Su
From my point of view, which is
the only one I've been supplied with, something needs to happen
before the "and" in the title. In other words for
you to know God, something needs to occur prior to the rest
of the sentence. More specifically a particular type of action
that you need to do, before the rest of the phase "...and
know that I am God" can come to fulfillment.
It's actually quite simple to do,
but most of the population on Earth doesn't engage in this simple
action. This simple action doesn't require that much talent
either. I believe every human being can do it. But why don't
most of us do this relatively simple task that will allow us
to know God? Maybe the reason why people don't do this particular
simple action is because most people have some sort of fear
in knowing God.
I'd like to know God. What is this
simple task that needs to be done? I would think knowing God
would be such a great honor, which would exceed knowing anyone
else on Earth. You would think that some type of charitable,
compassionate, or challenging deed needs to be performed before
obtaining the status of knowing God. Fill in the blank here:
_____________________ and know that I am God.
What goes in the blank?
Swim the English Channel and
know that I am God.
Rescue an animal and
know that I am God.
Dedicate your life in fighting
oppression and know that I am God.
It's really counter intuitive.
You would think for the honor of being able to know God (e.g.
God and I play golf on Saturdays), the action would be something
extremely difficult or noble. But it appears the Creator has
given all humans this ability. And all can do this task, if
they are willing. What is this task?
The answer isn't from a wise man,
a sage, or a teacher. The answer is from God himself. I guess
this makes sense. You would think that if there is anyone out
there that would know the answer to this question, it would
be God.
Ready for the answer?
"Be still."
He says, “Be still, and know
that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
-Psalms
46: 10
Believe it or not, you have been
gifted with this ability. I challenge you to take time out of
your busy day to do this relatively simple task. It's one of
those tasks that is easy to say, but actually quite difficult
to do.
Let me give you an example of how
easy it is NOT to do this relatively simple task and miss out
on knowing God.
A few weeks ago, I took a day off
and took my better half into New York City to visit a museum.
I had never been to the Museum of Modern Art, or MOMA for short.
In this museum you can find very famous works of art from artists
like Picasso, Monet, and Jackson Pollack.

There is a lot of stuff in this
building that I don't quite understand why it's considered art.
For instance there was this wheel
bolted to this stool. And near it was a shovel hanging near
it. I didn't know if the two items went together or if they
were separate works of art. But I thought to myself, if this
is considered art, then I have a massive collection of "art"
in my garage. And no need to pay $50 + parking + tolls to go
see this.

As we were kind of rushing through
the exhibits, because we had to be back home by a certain time
in order to drop one of our son off for lacrosse practice, there
was this room filled with architectural models. I guess in order
to have a common theme, most of them were in white. But for
one of the architectural models, it was decorated with trees.
Trees that looked like the picture below.

I paused to study the tree. How
did the modeler make this I asked myself? Because it was so
intricate. The branches became smaller at the ends, just like
a real tree. But because of the scale, the branches at the end
were so thin that I think they were less than a millimeter in
thickness. I was puzzled in trying to figure out how a person
could make a tree look so real.
I then realized the trees we roots
of a plant, but turned upside down. How ingenious of the modeler,
I thought. But then I realized as skilled as man has become
in engineering buildings, bridges, and homes, we still can't
make a tree. I found it odd. MOMA is filled with priceless pieces
of art, but what I found most magnificent in design was this
piece of root turned upside down. For me, I needed to be still
in order to know God. I would have missed it, from my normal
busy-ness of life.
