Something is Awry with the Timeline (part 8)
By L. S. Su
Most school systems at all levels,
currently teach that there is an approximate 75 million year
gap from the time dinosaurs sauntered the Earth and from the
time humans made their appearance. If this is true, then no human
would have actually seen a living and breathing dinosaur. Or
for that matter, had to runaway from a dinosaur with big, sharp
and ugly teeth. But in my last
article, there seems to be considerable amount of archaeological
evidence (i.e. in caves, on ancient structures, on pottery, on
a sword case, on pouring vessels) that man at one time saw these
now extinct creatures that we call dinosaurs today.
If there is archaeological evidence
that man and dinosaur co-existed at one time, wouldn't there
also be literary evidence too? Certainly someone would have
wrote about dinosaurs -especially if it was big, ferocious,
and could kill your family or ruin your livelihood in a flash.
There is literary evidence. But since the word dinosaur wasn't
invented until 1842 by a person named Richard Owens, anyone
who wrote about dinosaurs before 1842, would had to have selected
a different word to describe these now extinct creatures -especially
those large ones that could squash or eat you.
The following passages is from
http://www.forbidden-history.com/marco-polo.html
Marco Polo was a trader and explorer
who spent over 20 years traveling through out Asia, Persia,
China, and Indonesia. It was his journey which ultimately inspired
other men like Christopher Columbus to explore the world. His
travels took place from around 1271-1298.
The book,The Travels of Marco Polo, is the written record which
chronicles the adventures and travels that Marco Polo experienced
while exploring the eastern world. In part 2, chapter 40, Marco
Polo reports what he describes as "huge serpents".
The descriptions given sound in many ways no different than
descriptions given of the dinosaurs in the text books.The following
is an excerpt from Marco Polo's book in which he describes a
dinosaur:
Leaving the city of Yachi, and traveling ten days in a westerly
direction, you reach the province of Karazan, which is also
the name of the chief city....Here are seen huge serpents, ten
paces in length (about 30 feet), and ten spans (about 8 feet)
girt of the body. At the fore part, near the head, they have
two short legs, having three claws like those of a tiger, with
eyes larger than a forepenny loaf (pane da quattro denari) and
very glaring."
The jaws are wide enough to swallow a man, the teeth are large
and sharp, and their whole appearance is so formidable, that
neither man, nor any kind of animal can approach them without
terror. Others are met with of a smaller size, being eight,
six, or 5 paces long; and the following method is used for taking
them. In the day-time, by reason of great heat, they lurk in
caverns, from whence, at night, they issue to seek their food,
and whatever beast they meet with and can lay hold of, whether
tiger, wolf, or any other, they devour;
"After which they drag themselves towards some lake, spring
of water, or river, in order to drink. By their motion in this
way along the shore, and their vast weight, they make a deep
impression, as if a heavy beam had been drawn along the sands.
Those whose employment is to hunt them observe the track by
which they are most frequently accustomed to go, and fix into
the ground several pieces of wood, armed with sharp iron spikes,
which they cover with sand in such a manner as not to be perceptible.
When therefore the animals make their way towards the places
they usually haunt, they are wounded by these instruments, and
speedily killed. The crows, as soon as they perceive them to
be dead, set up to scream; and this serves as a signal to the
hunters, who advance the spot, and proceed to separate the skin
from the flesh, taking care immediately to secure the gall,
which is most highly esteemed in medicine.
In cases of the bite of a mad dog, a penny weight of it, dissolved
in wine, is administered. It is also useful in accelerating
parturition, when the labor pains of women have come on. A small
quantity of it being applied to carbuncles, pustules, or other
eruptions on the body, they are presently dispersed; and it
is efficacious in many other complaints.
The flesh also of the animal is sold at a dear rate, being thought
to have a higher flavor than other kinds of meat, and by all
persons it is esteemed a delicacy." (The Travels of Marco
Polo, © 1948, Book 2, Chapter XL, pg. 185-186)
Now I realize that it is possible
that Marco Polo's written account was partially fiction. Maybe
his journey was actually very boring and he needed to make some
things up so people would read about his adventure; but the
trouble is, the text above doesn't strike me as a piece of fiction.
It doesn't read like a J.K.Rowling book. Also since Marco Polo
went to China, I think this is worth mentioning.
The Chinese have 12 animals in
their calendar system: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake,
horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. The Chinese culture,
in which I personally identify with, would NOT have picked eleven
real animals and selected one made-up or mythological animal
(i.e. dragon). So no flying pig or Pegasus, just real animals
that my fellow countrymen would have actually seen at one time.
Here is another literary account
of what sounds like a dinosaur. It's found in the book of Job
in the Bible. The "o" in Job is pronounced like "ow".
Job is the first book of what is categorized as wisdom literature.
Behemoth (Job
40:15-24)
“Look at Behemoth,
which I made along with you
and which feeds on grass like an ox.
What strength it has in its loins,
what power in the muscles of its belly!
Its tail sways like a cedar;
the sinews of its thighs are close-knit.
Its bones are tubes of bronze,
its limbs like rods of iron.
It ranks first among the works of God,
yet its Maker can approach it with his sword.
The hills bring it their produce,
and all the wild animals play nearby.
Under the lotus plants it lies,
hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
The lotuses conceal it in their shadow;
the poplars by the stream surround it.
A raging river does not alarm it;
it is secure, though the Jordan should surge against its mouth.
Can anyone capture it by the eyes,
or trap it and pierce its nose?
What animal today has a tail like
a cedar? Certainly not an elephant, hippo or rhino. What animal
today cannot be trapped? The Behemoth was a very large creature
if a raging river couldn't alarm it. I believe what the writer
is calling a Behemoth is what we call a Brachiosaurus, who had
a big thick tail, ate plants, and hung out in the water. What
I think is kind of neat is the writer says that this creature
was one of the first creatures God made. So this passage also
supports that dinosaur (this creature) was created before man.
And man putting a ring in its nose, so he can lead it around;
just didn't seem like practical option. This creature was huge.
Also the Tabernacle, which was
a portable temple that the Jews set up in the dessert during
their long trek from Egypt to the Promise Land, was made up
of different materials. One of the materials that covered the
Tabernacle was hide from a "sea
cow". Could the sea cow be another term for the Behemoth?
The Bible talks about another creature that is now extinct,
however this one sound far more dangerous.
Leviathan (Job
41:1-34)
“Can you pull in Leviathan
with a fishhook
or tie down its tongue with a rope?
Can you put a cord through its nose
or pierce its jaw with a hook?
Will it keep begging you for mercy?
Will it speak to you with gentle words?
Will it make an agreement with you
for you to take it as your slave for life?
Can you make a pet of it like a bird
or put it on a leash for the young women in your house?
Will traders barter for it?
Will they divide it up among the merchants?
Can you fill its hide with harpoons
or its head with fishing spears?
If you lay a hand on it,
you will remember the struggle and never do it again!
Any hope of subduing it is false;
the mere sight of it is overpowering.
No one is fierce enough to rouse it.
Who then is able to stand against me?
Who has a claim against me that I must pay?
Everything under heaven belongs to me.
“I will not fail to speak of Leviathan’s limbs,
its strength and its graceful form.
Who can strip off its outer coat?
Who can penetrate its double coat of armor?
Who dares open the doors of its mouth,
ringed about with fearsome teeth?
Its back has rows of shields
tightly sealed together;
each is so close to the next
that no air can pass between.
They are joined fast to one another;
they cling together and cannot be parted.
Its snorting throws out flashes of light;
its eyes are like the rays of dawn.
Flames stream from its mouth;
sparks of fire shoot out.
Smoke pours from its nostrils
as from a boiling pot over burning reeds.
Its breath sets coals ablaze,
and flames dart from its mouth.
Strength resides in its neck;
dismay goes before it.
The folds of its flesh are tightly joined;
they are firm and immovable.
Its chest is hard as rock,
hard as a lower millstone.
When it rises up, the mighty are terrified;
they retreat before its thrashing.
The sword that reaches it has no effect,
nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.
Iron it treats like straw
and bronze like rotten wood.
Arrows do not make it flee;
slings tones are like chaff to it.
A club seems to it but a piece of straw;
it laughs at the rattling of the lance.
Its undersides are jagged potsherds,
leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge.
It makes the depths churn like a boiling cauldron
and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment.
It leaves a glistening wake behind it;
one would think the deep had white hair.
Nothing on earth is its equal—
a creature without fear.
It looks down on all that are haughty;
it is king over all that are proud.”
There is no animal on earth now
that is immune to arrows, darts, and javelins. So this an extinct
creature that is being described. I believe what is being described
here is what we call a dragon. An from the description above,
it breathed fire. How cool and scary is that? I think it makes
perfect sense that the Chinese put this animal highest on their
animal zodiac food chain.
In conclusion, I do not believe
there was a 75 million year gap between dinosaurs and man. There
is much evidence that supports that man and dinosaur occupied
the Earth at the same time. If this is true, then something
is awry with academia's timeline. Next time lets look closer
at the Biblical timeline.
