Greetings!
Thank you for your patience as we continue to work out some of the kinks on our web site. One of the biggest enhancments we added to our web site is this technology called AJAX. It's this mouse-over technology whose overall goal is to reduce the number of clicks a buyer needs to perform in order to put an order together. Click and wait is the old technology. Because of the number of items on our web site, a typical order usually took over 500 clicks. We are still fine tuning it, but hopefully in the near future, shopping at Toy Wonders will save you time -after all time is money.
A few shipments arrived
this week. If you log

below, you will see wholesale pricing -as well as a picture.

The Art of Toy
and Diecast Model Car Marketing
Let’s Make a Deal
By Lu Su
One of my favorite riddles comes from the television game show “Let’s
Make a Deal” with Monte Hall. I know for the younger
generations readying this, I’m going to get a lot of blank
stares. “Monte Hall? Let’s make a deal? Never heard
of it; you must be a dinosaur!” What Monte, the game show
host, would make a grand announcement that today we are giving away
a new car (or some fabulous prize). Monte would then pick
a contestant from the audience and offer the contestant a choice
of three curtains. “Do you want curtain #1, #2, or #3?”
he would ask. Now the car is behind one of the curtains, there
is nothing behind another curtain, and usually the last curtain
has a dude prize behind (like a smelly mule).
The contestant, usually dressed up in some crazy garb (the crazier
the outfit, the greater the chance Monte would select him/her to
play), would randomly pick one curtain. Now before opening the curtain
that the contestant had just picked, the very next thing Monte does
is to open one of the two remaining curtains –and reveal that
there is no car behind it.. Now it is important for you to know
that since Monte knows where the car is, he can always open the
empty curtain or the one with a dude prize behind it. And
the last thing Monte does is to offer the contestant, “Would
you like to switch curtains? I’ll make a deal with you
and trade the remaining curtain with the one you originally picked.”
Please keep in mind that Monte always offers the contestant
if he wants to switch.
So the question is “Should you switch?”
Possible answers:
- Yes, you
should switch because the odds of winning the car are greater
if you do.
- No, you
should not switch because the odds are greater if you stay with
your original pick.
- Doesn’t
matter if you switch or not, because the odds are 50/50.
- Doesn’t
matter if you switch or not, because all curtains lead to a
brand new car.
If you respond
to this email with your guess, I’ll respond back if you are
correct or not. Need you ponder this question, because it
sets up the next essay called “Pretty Small Odds”.
