29263W ERTL - Packer Pontiac Catalina Race Car. 1:18 scale diecast collectible model car. This Pontiac Catalina is a 12"L x 4.25"W x 3"H die cast metal car with openable doors, hood & trunk, detailed engine, painted in authentic colors, steerable front wheels, and chrome wheels. Limited edition "Commemorative Series" #3. Pontiac seventy fifth anniversary. Sits on a display stand. This Packer Pontiac Catalina racing car is manufactured by RC2 Brands. 29263 is in WHITE color. Individually packed in a window box. Box measures 13.75"L x 6.25"W x 5.75"H. GM is a trademark of the General Motors Corporation.

In 1962 Pontiac built approximately 179 special cars for racing; know as SUPER DUTY CARS. The "Packer Pontiac" was #84 of the special cars built for racing. Owned and campaigned by Howard Maseles in 1962.

1962 was the first year you could buy a hot Poncho right off the assembly line. The Super Duty package cost $1,334.24 over the cost of the standard Catalina V-8. The four-speed transmission cost another $234.00.

The "Packer Pontiac" has the 421, two-four engine, four-speed tranny with the Hurst-Campbell floor shifter with heavy-duty linkage setup supplies by Pontiac and 4:33 posi-track rear. The "Packer Pontiac" competed in NHRA's toughest division, racing against other factory supported teams from Detroit.

The '62 "Packer Pontiac" was an NHRA C Stock record holder. The Packer Pontiac posted best times of 11.73 and 118 mph during the 1962 season and set the fastest time at INDY. The restoration of this vintage Super Duty Pontiac was done by owner Bill Blair, High Point, NC and the car is still being campaigned by Bill across the country at drag strips and car shows.
