12537 Welly Premium Pro Street - 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS-454 Hard Top. 1:18 scale diecast collectible model car. This 1970 Pro-Street Chevy Chevelle SS454 is a 10.5"L x 4"W x 2.75"H diecast collection car with openable doors, hood & trunk. It features steerable front wheels, detail components, and is mounted on a display stand. Premium collectible & limited edition. This Chevy Chevelle SS 454 is manufactured by Welly. Item 12537 is in YELLOW color. Individually packed in a window box. Box size: 13.25"L x 6.25"W x 5.5"H. GM is a trademark of the General Motors Corporation.

In 1970 GM lifted their restrictions on engines over 450 cubic inches. This made possible the Chevelle SS 454 option, which came in tow versions: the standard LS5 454cid rated at 360hp and the optional LS6 version rated at a gutsy 450hp. Car & Driver magazine tested an LS-6 car which ran the quarter mile in 13.81 seconds at 103.81 mph. That's some very serious "factory installed" power.

This car was not just about the engine, it was also about over-the-top style. The Super Sport option package included a domed hood pins, and the distinctive balcked-out grill with SS emblem. WIth its wide stance, long hood, cowl induction, and optional sport stripe hit (featuring two identical "band aid" stripes on the hood and rear deck), this was a muscle car other muscle cars envied.

When it came to uncompromising everyday operation, few supercars could match the Chevelle's nicely balanced combination of handling, braking, ride, comfort, pizzazz, and performance. It remains a classic from an era that was not afraid to celebrate power, speed and flash.
